BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Business

This course is for students who are interested in learning about various fields within the business sector. It includes learning about areas such as: Marketing; Business Environments; and Finance. The course is designed to be taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels. The Extended Certificate, which will be delivered over two years, has 4 units in total, 3 of which are mandatory. Two of these mandatory units will be delivered as the Certificate course in Y12 with the final mandatory unit and an optional unit covered in Y13. In Y12 students cover Unit 2 Developing a Marketing Campaign along with Unit 1 Exploring Business. The progression onto the Extended Diploma in Year 13 requires students to complete Unit 3 on Personal and Business Finance and an optional unit that will be one of: Unit 8 The Recruitment and Selection Process, Unit 14 Investigating Customer Service, Unit 22 Market Research, Unit 23 The English Legal System or Unit 27 Work Experience in Business. Students are required to build a portfolio of assignment evidence which may be in different formats such as reports or video presentations. The course give access to a huge range of potential careers within the Business Sector. Past students have gone onto Apprenticeships in Business Administration, Accounting or straight into employment with local businesses. Some have used the problem-solving and inter-personal skills gained to support them in completion of a range of university degree courses.
