Kick start your career in Hairdressing with this apprenticeship enabling you to combine study at College with on-the-job experience. A Hairdressing Apprenticeship is one of the best ways of training to become a Hairdresser. It enables you to EARN WHILE YOU LEARN. In most cases, you will attend a White Rose School one day per week and work within the Industry for the remainder of your working week. You should expect your apprenticeship to last at least twelve months. You will also be given a real insight into the Hairdressing Industry to include what employers will expect from you and how important it is to sustain your employment so you can progress even further in the profession. Apprentices are employed either on a full or part time basis, dependent on the needs of either the employer or apprentice. If you are aged 16-18 or if you are 19+ and in the first year of your apprenticeship you will earn the Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage rate per hour. After that the National Minimum Wage for your age group applies. The qualification studied in college includes all the required elements to work effectively as a hairdresser including: Advise and consult with clients; Set and dress hair; Styles and finish hair; Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work; Cut hair using basic techniques; Colour and lighten hair; Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp.

Practical assessment will take place on real clients in College and an assessor will visit you in the salon to monitor your progress.
