The CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (QCF) is designed to provide: • a progression route from the CPCAB Level 2 Award in Introduction to Counselling Skills. • opportunities for those who may use counselling skills when working with others to achieve a nationally-recognised, Level 2, vocationally-specific qualification • the knowledge, understanding and skills learners need to embark on the professional qualification pathway through level 3 and on to the full two year Diploma The CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is made up of seven learning outcomes and associated assessment criteria. You will put together a portfolio of assessment tasks and other evidence that will demonstrate you have met these learning outcomes. 1. Use counselling skills ethically and safely 2. Establish and sustain the boundaries of the helping role 3. Work empathically as a helper 4. Focus on the helpee's needs and concerns 5. Use self-awareness in helping work 6. Use a range of counselling skills to facilitate the helping interaction 7. Use feedback and reflection to enhance counselling skills

External assessment: externally assessed written paper after watching a CPCAB DVD under exam conditions and assessed by CPCAB.
