This Award comprises the following courses: Introduction to Law for Paralegals - this is a compulsory course is designed to help you learn about the legal system in England and Wales and the general legal principles of Contract and Tort Law. You also choose one of the following : Legal Ethics and Responsibilities for Paralegals - this will teach you the responsibilities in relation to client care for a Paralegal. You’ll learn about appropriate professional conduct and client communications. Wills and Succession for Paralegals - this will help you understand the procedures in this area. You’ll study the main elements of drafting a will, the roles and powers of personal representatives and the Inheritance Act. Civil Litigation for Paralegals - you will gain understanding of how civil litigation is conducted in the areas of debt recovery, personal injury, consumer law and family law. Criminal Litigation for Paralegals - you’ll learn the criminal litigation procedure in the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court from arrest to trial and the funding mechanisms available for criminal litigation matters, together with professional conduct requirements. Commercial Law for Paralegals - you’ll learn to understand the business mediums of companies and partnerships and to identify the appropriate business medium in given scenarios. Conveyancing for Paralegals - this will help you gain detailed knowledge of the procedures and processes involved in conveyancing in England and Wales, and be able to apply that knowledge to given scenarios. Employment Practice for Paralegals – you’ll gain an understanding of the contractual relationship and wider scope of employment law and how to apply the law in practical situations. Consumer Law and Advice for Paralegals - this will help you understand consumer legislation in England and Wales and the practice of providing initial consumer advice. You’ll also look at dispute resolution and how to interpret legal language.
