This course seeks to provide learners with the necessary skills to take their drawing ability to the next level with confidence and enthusiasm. The course would assist in taking learners' skills further, by developing a greater understanding of spacial relationships, composition and proportion along with further studies in perspective and focusing on picture creation as well as additional methods in experimental styles of graphic representation. By the end of the course you will be able to: Develop a more in-depth knowledge of contour drawing (line) and Gesture drawing (Sketch)as two distinct modes of techniques. Demonstrate further studies in 'Tonal Value' as applied to composition of three dimensional forms. Discover further knowledge of 'Negative Space' as applied to recognising shape and composition. Evaluate the dynamics of measurement taking and proportional relationships. Create graphic examples of one point and two point perspective as applied to observation and graphic representation. This is an intermediate course that is suitable for students that already have a rudimentary knowledge of drawing. However, it will also be beneficial to some students that want to brush up on their drawing abilities having gained a certain proficiency from a previous time. Students will be provided with 'basic' drawing materials to assist them on this course. However, they might want to invest in their own art materials that are suited to their own preferences as well as can be made use of in the numerous homework assignments that form part of the course. text17 There is no formal qualification for this Community Learning course. This intermediate drawing course will prepare the student for taking their studies further on future drawing courses being offered at the learning Centre. Students are also encourage to continue their drawing practice by keeping a `Sketchbook Journal` to document their progress as well as archiving their work through building an extensive
