The aim of this one day course is to be able to identify a range of common pest and diseases in the garden and find environmentally friendly methods to control them. In the close confines of the greenhouse even the smallest outbreak of disease or pest infestation can rapidly get out of hand and spread through your precious plants like wildfire unless it is dealt with very promptly. As a result, the most effective form of control is your own vigilance, good identification skills and a toolkit of practical control techniques, including organic methods. * Look at common greenhouse pests and diseases, such as red spider mites, aphids, eelworms and vine weevils, while grey mould (botrytis), mildew and damping off - another kind of fungus. * Identification of common pest and diseases in the garden including Mammals, birds, caterpillars, moths, cankers, blights and others. * Use and understand organic control techniques such as barriers, netting and cages, soluble applications, companion planting and host planting. * Choose suitable methods of biological control methods in the greenhouse such as nematodes, parasitic wasps to control pests in the greenhouse and garden
