SPORT - LEVEL 1

This course provides an introduction to the sport and leisure sector. It can be used as the first step onto the vocational ladder and preparation for employment or further study. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like to study sport and leisure with a view to an introduction to a career in this industry. You will study the following: * Working in Sport and Leisure * Improving Fitness * How the body works * Stay safe in the workplace * Assisting at Events * Taking Part in Sport * Job Opportunities You will also undertake a work placement during the course. All LMC students will receive tutorial support. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
