This course is for students who wish to work in the construction industry and progress onto level 3 or an apprenticeship. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the construction industry or who are progressing from Level 1 Bricklaying. You will study the following: * Carry Out Safe Working Practices * Information, Quantities and Communication * Building Methods and Construction Technology * Interpret Drawings and Setting Out * Thin Joint Masonry Systems * Solid Walling and Isolated Piers * Cavity Walling All LMC students will receive tutorial support and take a programme of Functional Skills including maths and English. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade C4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
