With the breath-taking Yorkshire Dales as an outdoor classroom and playground for research, this foundation degree provides the ideal platform for learning the essential knowledge and skills required to ensure that the countryside is proactively managed as a working environment, while retaining and enhancing its natural beauty. You will develop an understanding of the underlying science and be able to apply this knowledge in a range of practical situations. Development of practical skills such as biological surveying and dry stone walling will enhance your appreciation of the range of skills needed to manage the countryside effectively. Report writing and project management skills will also add to your professional status. The tutors share a wealth of environmental and academic expertise, having previously held a variety of positions in the sector. Visiting speakers include senior personnel from organisations such as the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust allowing students to have first hand advice on a career in conservation management. This programme replaces the previously validated Foundation Degree in Environmental Conservation.
