Fan of BBC Two's The Great Pottery Throw Down? Whether you're well used to slip and slabs or you're a newbie to the wet and wild, world of glaze and fettling. This course will cater for beginners and experienced sculptors, as you can create, at your own pace with guidance of industry experts. The course aims to instruct students in the use of ceramic materials, to make and decorate pots and objects that are functional and imaginative. During the course students will learn about: The states of clay Different types of clay Methods - pinching, slab-building, coiling, slip casting and throwing Decorating - mark making, incising, sprigging, inlaying, scraffito and piercing Glazing - types and methods Firing Aspects of design and development sculpture. The course aims to give students the opportunity to make 3 dimensional forms/sculptures to develop creative skills and a critical awareness of form. Activities may include Construction of armatures modelling techniques measuring and scaling methods mould making casting processes firing and finishing processes
