This course will help you to develop independence, self confidence and social skills. You will also gain an awareness of the skills needed for employment and/or opportunities to progress to another course. This course is run over three days and will give you the opportunity to explore what you are good at and what skills you need to develop for work. You will have regular group and individual tutorials to help you to do this. Your tutor may arrange a work placement for you if appropriate. Some of your learning will take place in the community and you will run a small business in college. You will also have your own personal targets to work towards.Literacy will include Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing. Numeracy will include; counting, use of money, using a calculator, adding and subtracting, weighing and measuring. You will develop your computer skills.You will work towards the Edexcel Independence and Work Certificate Entry 2 or 3, college certificates for literacy and numeracy and/or ESB.
