A course that allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Carpentry or Joinery. The level 1 qualification comprises of the following core units: Health, safety and welfare in Construction and Principles of building construction, information and communication. The following subject specialist units are also studied: Produce woodworking joints, Prepare and use carpentry and joinery power tools, Maintain and use carpentry and joinery hand tools. English and maths will be undertaken, either Functional Skills or GCSE dependant on prior achievement and will form a significant part of your timetable. Employability skills will be developed and learners will undertake Work Experience as part of their Study Programme.
