This qualification is the very first step to a successful career in accounting and finance. It focuses on 'double-entry bookkeeping', which is the foundation stone of all accounting, and a pre-requisite for entry on to the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. It also enables students to experience a 'taster' in accounts, prior to continuing to complete their Level 2 Certificate in Accounting, and if they so wish, moving on to level 3. The course combines the theoretical knowledge required for bookkeeping with practical skills, and it is this emphasis on skills that makes AAT highly valued and respected in the workplace. The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is an established and well-respected international accountancy body with a growing membership totalling 120,000. This introductory level will allow you the opportunity to develop your skills in finance administration, eg double-entry bookkeeping, purchase, sales and general ledgers, as well as the all-important 'error correction' principles you will need in your career. You will be required to reach competence in two units, and these are: Processing bookkeeping transactions Controlling accounts, journals and the banking system
