Jewellery - all levels

UPDATED 20170106 18:26:28

If you are a beginner you will be taught the basic techniques for jewellery making. The course will start with 2 projects which will introduce you to a range to techniques including: sawing, texturing, annealing, solder, filing, drilling and polishing. In the first project you will learn how to create a simple design which can be translated into a Sterling silver pendant or a pair of Sterling silver earrings. You will experience how to use the piercing saw to cut out a shape. You will also be guided through the process of applying texture to your shape and filing/polishing it to a smooth finish. The second project will involve ring making and the technique of soldering. Each technique will be demonstrated as a group and you will be fully supported by your tutor as you learn. All tools and materials will be provided for the first 2 projects. After the first 2 project you will be able to work on your own design idea with the support and guidance of your tutor. You will have the opportunity to use a selection of techniques including; roll printing, oxidisation, cabochon stone setting, reticulation, doming. More experienced students will work on their own projects/designs with the support and guidance of the tutor. Relevant techniques will be demonstrated both individually and as a group. You will be taught by group demonstration and hands on experience. There will be two projects which will introduce the techniques of sawing and soldering. The students will then have the opportunity to work on their own simple designs. You will progress to work on individualised projects. Support and guidance will be provided by the tutor. Students can continue to attend our Jewellery courses, which will introduce new skills and allow students to progress with their Jewellery making.
