Subjects to be covered include exploring the theory and practice of art; knowledge of the lives and techniques of artists and the political and social influences on their art. The subjects to be covered are Mannerism and Baroque. Students will become aware of these movements in Europe, both painting and architecture. Artists studied will include Titian, Caravaggio, Poussin and Peter Paul Rubens.You will learn by analysing selected works of artists, designs and crafts people, looking critically at how art works in the selected context of time, social and political influences. As a non-accredited course there is no assessment; a college certificate will be awarded on request.Students could progress to other creative art courses.
