You will be learning how to make pastry from scratch which can be used as the base of 5 sweet and 5 savoury dishes. This course is for anyone who is interested in cooking. Every week you will need to bring- An apron, tea towel, dish cloth and suitable containers to take your dishes home in. You should also provide your own cling film and tin foil. The recipes will be given to you the week previous to the class and all recipes will be available online. Ingredients and Equipment for the first class: Apple & Blackberry Pie. For the pastry: 150g plain flour, 75g soft margarine or butter, a pinch of salt, a desert spoonful of granulated sugar, water and 1 small egg. For the filling: 3 large Bramley apples, a tablespoon of brown sugar and 150g blackberries (optional) Equipment: 22cm enamel pie dish (Sainsbury's sell inexpensive Falcon enamel ware - or any similar sized dish)and Tin foil. You will need to buy your own ingredients each week. During the first class the tutor will discuss this with you in more detail.
