Level 3 Diploma in Children’s learning and Development (Early Years Educator) (QCF) is for learners who work in, or want to work with children in Early Years settings. This qualification is supported by The National College for Teaching & Leadership (NCTL) and meets the NCTL Early Years Educator (Level 3) Qualifications Criteria. It gives learners the opportunity to: • Demonstrate competence as an Early Years Educator, Child minder or Nursery Nurse • Achieve a nationally-recognised Level 3 qualification • Develop their own personal growth and engagement in learning. Learners will be supported by their nominated assessor and gather evidence of competence and knowledge through observations, research assignments, work products, professional discussions and reflection. Units are selected to meet the individual employer requirements and typically could include: • Developing effective study skills • Promote partnership working with parents • Model, promote and support positive behaviour with children • Principles of safeguarding policies and procedures in early years settings • Promoting diversity, equality and inclusion in the early years sector • Plan and implement activities, play opportunities and educational programmes in an early years setting • Promoting children’s health and welfare in an early years setting • Promote children’s speech, language and communication development • Supporting children’s creative and imaginative play and experiences • Theories which underpin practice in the early years sector • Child development from conception to 7 years These are assessed via an online portfolio platform which allows learners and employers to access live progress updates and support. All learners will be visited by their assessor in the workplace at least every four weeks as well as internet and telephone support between meetings. Meetings take place on a one-to-one basis ensuring flexibility to the workplace needs.
