Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF)

UPDATED 20170111 13:19:43

A Diploma in Health and Social Care is flexible to suit all fields of health and social care. Learners can select a pathway that suits their role - for example, working with people with a learning disability or people with dementia. This is a work based qualification, therefore learners must be in employment in health and social care. Level 3 is ideal if you're a care worker, and you have some responsibility in your workplace. You sometimes work without supervision. You want to develop or demonstrate your skills, perhaps to become a senior care worker. Learners will be supported by their assessor and gather evidence of competence and knowledge through various assessment methods. Units are selected to meet the individual employer requirements and typically could include: • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care • The role of the health and social care worker • Promote person centred approaches in health and social care • Promote and implement health and safety in health and social care • Promote good practice in handling information in health and social care settings • Promote communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings • Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings • Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings • Understand the process and experience of dementia • Understand the diversity of individuals with dementia and the importance of inclusion • Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings. These are assessed via an online portfolio platform which allows learners and employers to access live progress updates and support. All learners will be visited by their assessor in the workplace at least every four weeks as well as internet and telephone support between meetings.
