Photography Digital SLR for Beginners

The course is for anyone interested in photography who wants to make the most out of their camera. The course will help you learn the basic skills of photography, both from a technical and artistic perspective. You will also be introduced to the work of eminent photographers. This course will explore the meaning of photographic terminology and basic concepts and techniques associated with digital SLR photography. The course content includes: Introduction to SLR; basic camera shooting modes; aperture priority, shutter priority and manual shooting modes; how to control depth of field; controlling movement; ISO; white balance; filters; exposure metering; histograms; focal length; composition; your DSLR camera functions.

Name: Photography Digital SLR for Beginners Qualification title: Non regulated Community Learning provision, Crafts, Creative Arts and Design Qualification type: Assessment The course is broken down into ten sessions of two hours, which will take students through basic photographic theory to being able to competently produce their own work. All lessons contain practical sessions to reinforce learning. There is no set homework but advice can be given on assignments that will improve your photographic technique outside of class. Entry requirements

You will need your own Digital SLR Camera with zoom lens and tripod. A camera manual is also essential as camera functions are model specific. Basic compact cameras are not suitable for use with this course. There may be additional costs for the printing of your photographs.
