This course will provide a basic introduction to the variety of roles available in the childcare sector. It will cover common roles and responsibilities performed by childcare providers, skills and experience needed, common pay and conditions, child protection and DBS (Disclosure and Barring Scheme) requirements. The course will be delivered in a classroom environment through a variety of tutor led and group based activities. All materials will be provided. This course will not provide you with a formal qualification, but you will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course which you can show to prospective employers. There are a number of options open to you at the end of this course including:- Applying for work or volunteering in a childcare setting - Applying for an apprenticeship within child care - Applying for a place on an accredited course (see B&W College for details) - Enrolling on another adult education course to improve your skills further. These options will be explored during the course and you will have the opportunity to discuss your ideas with an adviser from the National Careers Service.
