This course will provide a basic introduction to the work of a Teaching Assistant (TA). It will cover common tasks performed by TAs, skills and experience needed, common pay and conditions, and child protection and DBS (disclosure and Baring Scheme) requirements The course will be delivered in a classroom environment through a variety of tutor led and group based activities. All materials will be provided. This course will not provide you with a formal qualification, but you will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course which you can show to prospective employers. There are a number of options open to you at the end of this course including: Applying for work or volunteering as a teaching assistant, Applying for an apprenticeship as a teaching assistant, Applying for a place on an accredited course (see B&W College for details), Enrolling on another adult education course to improve your skills furtherThese options will be explored during the course and you will have the opportunity to discuss your ideas with an adviser from the National Careers Service.
