This course introduces the creative and practical processes involved in designing and making clothes. It will also guide you to investigate how the fashion industry operates. The course will show you how to develop your drawing skills to produce sketchbooks, creative ideas and fashion illustrations. You will learn about the design process, including how to work to a brief, how to research, storyboards, design inspiration and development. The course also explores how to acheive designs using computer software. Sewing skills, garment construction and other essential practical skills are also covered. In addition to this you will learn about the fashion industry and the way the industry works to sell fashion products. You will learn in a variety of ways - through demonstrations and instruction, completing practical tasks and activities, by design exercises and research, and by presentation and evaluation of your work. You will learn in a small group, with a high level of teaching and support. The course is based at East Ham Campus in modern, well-equipped garment production and pattern cutting workshops. You will take part in an induction at the beginning of the course.
