The course is for anyone with a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in construction with some basic carpentry and joinery skills, and a willingness to explore new ideas. It will appeal to students who: want the opportunity to carry out practical work covering both craft and technician skills, enjoy studying a subject that is relevant to their own lives and experiences, enjoy finding out their own answers - not just being taught, wish to build up a qualification by studying separate units and seek a broad experience of this vocational area. You will cover 16 units comprising 8 practical units, 8 theory units (which will include 8 unit end tests and 1 synoptic test) followed by an online exam. ou will: develop your understanding of the construction and building industry, learn how craft activities are carried out safely and how they contribute to the construction process, namely bench joinery and 1st and 2nd fix joinery have an opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way, follow a programme of study that enables progression to employment in construction and gain confidence by developing independent learning skills.
