This course is concerned with how we see, and how best to convey what we see to others. You will need an understanding of the basics of Watercolour Painting. The course uses the medium of watercolour paint and equips you with the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to use watercolour paint to its full potential. Most students continue in this group for several terms, adding to their confidence and enjoyment in the medium with each new project.Artistic principles learnt will be transferable to other media and modes of self expression that each individual student may be concerned with. You will be taught a range of watercolour painting techniques, with tutor demonstrations and by studying the work of other contemporary artists who paint in watercolour.Composition, colour theory, drawing skills, and creativity are discussed with reference to art history. From a combination of exercises and finished picture making, you will build up an individual portfolio of work.If you are new to Watercolour painting, it is strongly recommended that you take the beginner's short course prior to the start of the main Autumn course, however, if you feel confident, then you can join on any of the 3 course start dates throughout the year.
