Pilates offers a holistic, enjoyable way to strengthen the body's muscles and improve balance and general fitness. Pilates offers a complete body workout, making it ideal for anyone who would like to reduce stress, help their mind and body work in harmony, tone their body or simply improve their overall health and posture. The course will work on building the body's core strength and muscle tone, as well as stretching and conditioning exercises. It will offer an awareness of how the body works, allowing students to help balance the relationship between mind and body as well as simply enjoying a work out. The beginners' course starts from the basic postures and techniques and work up to more complicated exercises.

Name: Pilates Intermediate/Advanced Qualification title: Non regulated provision, Entry Level, Sport, Leisure and Recreation Qualification type: Assessment The course is broken down into 10 one hour lessons over 10 weeks, with each evening's session starting from a warm up, working through postures and exercises, then ending with a warm down. The course will take students from basic introductory stances to more complicated techniques. There is no set homework but any extra time you can use to practise will improve your performance in class, help you remember techniques and supplement improving fitness.
