The course is for anyone wishing to develop a greater understanding of the use of computers to communicate. There will also be an opportunity, if required, to work on developing maths and English skills. Students will learn how to: operating a computer - switch on, switch off; identify and understand parts of a PC; use the keyboard effectively; create text for use in a Microsoft Word document or e-mail; use the Internet (WWW); use a browser; search for individual interest; print a page; bookmark pages found; use hyperlinks and navigation tools. Learners need to be able to learn to use a mouse, keyboard and screen, with the help of assistive technology if needed. Students must be able to follow written & verbal instructions, take part in discussions and complete all relevant paperwork.
