Who is the course for: This course is ideal for candidates who are passionate about a career in the hair and media make-up industry. This course is the first step towards this career path as you begin to develop your skills to work as a freelance hair and make-up stylist on photo shoots TV, film or theatre production. Course Content: If you are looking to specialise in hair and media make-up to create amazing looks and styles, this is the course for you. You will learn all aspects about how to apply professional make-up, apply skin tanning techniques and body art design plus client care and communication. You will also learn how to make a weft, style and design hair to create a total look. Throughout the course you will collate a portfolio of work and take part in photo shoots. We work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and where possible work placements will also be provided by the employers. This will include work at local theatres and the Pinewood Studios. Study Methods: 4/5 days per week. Theory lessons to cover all theoretical aspects of each unit and Anatomy and Physiology. Practical lessons in our purpose built make-up studio to train in all aspects of each unit. How is the course assessed: Practical skills will be observed by the tutors and knowledge will be checked throughout the course using written questions and completed assignments. Where next - Further Studies: C&G Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects Hair & Media Make-up. Where next - Job Opportunities: You can gain employment as a beautician in beauty salons, hotels and sports and leisure complexes.
