The music course is geared towards those with a keen interest in all the different elements of music whether you are interested in performance, composition, technology or business. You will tailor your course to your own needs and interests. Two compulsory units may be chosen from Performance (rehearsal skills and live music performance and planning for a career in music), Technology (live sound recording and sound reinforcement and planning for a career in music), Composition (composing styles and music sequencing and planning for a career in music), and Business (music promotion and event management and planning for a career in music). As well as the compulsory units you get to choose different units to suit your style and pathway. You can however, mix and match within pathways eg if you have chosen the performance pathway you are still able to do some composing, recording or event management. A very small selection of the other possible units available are as follows - composing lyrics, composing for adverts and TV, music arrangement, listening to music, understanding live sound design, choreographing popular music, royalties in music, music stage management, auditioning for music, session musician and lead performer(for a full list see Ms O Sullivan) .
Name: Music Practicioners RSL L3 Sub Diploma Qualification title: Subsidiary Diploma for Music Practitioners (QCF) Qualification type: GCE A/AS Level or equivalent Assessment The course is 100% coursework and will include the assessment of the two compulsory chosen. The types of assessments are based on the units that you choose however, there is likely to be an emphasis on practical whether this be performance, composition or technological based.
