Please refer to our website http://www.writtle.ac.uk for a summary of NPTC Level 2 Diploma in Horse Care About the Course This course will enable you to develop your practical skills in riding or stud work, reinforced by the study of equine theory. This course is more practical and less academic than some of the other courses. Areas of Study This course is made up of: horse grooming, trimming and plaiting, horse tack and clothing, feeding and watering horses, introduction to lungeing, animal biology, horse handling, work-related experience, riding horses. This list is not exhaustive. Work Placements A minimum of 150 hours must be completed at a work placement within the horse industry. Our Industrial Liaison Officer will help you find a suitable placement and will visit you at your placement to monitor your progress. This is in addition to yard duties at the horse unit and Lordships Stud, which ensures that your training will be standardised meeting College criteria.
