A one year course that is available as a full time day or part time on two evenings a week programme. The course aims to equip learners wishing to study at Level 3 and gain the necessary qualification for entry to Higher Education to primary teaching or similar educational degree courses. From September 2015 - the full time day course will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 09.00 until 17.00 for one year and the part time evening course is held on two evenings; which are Tuesday and Thursday at 17.00 - 21.00 over a period of one year. It will be essential that you attend either the two days/evenings so you will be able to complete the course in the one year. If this is your first Level 3 qualification; you may be entitle to some fee remission. If you're aged 24 or over and take out a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to fund your Access to HE Diploma; then go on to successfully complete your degree or subsequent higher education course; the Government will write off the loan that covered your Access course.

Within each unit there are a host of assessment methods including: oral presentation, report writing, essays and short answer questions. The School Based Experience assignments will relate to the work placement that you undertake in a primary school on a minimum of ten sessions, which could consist of two hours. To gain the Diploma, you will need to achieve 60 credits at Level 3. Assignments at Level 3 are graded at pass, merit or distinction. It is advisable to check the number of distinctions that you are expected to achieve by the university before the start of the course.
