This is a good starting point if you want to develop skills for job roles helping adults and for those taking their first steps in developing counselling skills.You will develop a range of skills, personal qualities and attitudes essential in the use of counselling skills. The course will cover: Work within the limitations of the helping role Establish boundaries for helping work Communicate empathic understanding Focus on the client's agenda Understand the importance of self-awareness in helping work Use listening and responding skills Use review and feedback to develop initial counselling skillsThis course will improve your acquisition of skills for personal satisfaction, training, employment or self employment.Your tutor will work with you to develop and review your progress throughout the course. This course is not appropriate for people with emotional distress. You may wish to consider the CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills to further develop your knowledge and skills. Alternatively you may wish to consider Mental Health Awareness courses.Other courses may be offered by Skills & Learning or other local providers.
