GCSE Psychology Course Content Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and experience. Everything you think, feel and do would be of interest to a psychologist! But how can we study something as complex and mysterious as the human mind? We cannot see someone's thoughts, emotions, memories, perceptions or dreams. So how do psychologists study the mind? This is what you will find out on this course. Unit B541: Studies and Applications in Psychology 1 Written examination 40% Biological psychology: sex and gender 1 hour 15 minutes Cognitive psychology: memory 80 marks Developmental psychology: attachment Social psychology: obedience Individual differences: atypical behaviour Unit B542: Studies and Applications in Psychology 2 Written examination 40% Biological psychology: criminal behaviour 1 hour 15 minutes Cognitive psychology: perception 80 marks Developmental psychology: cognitive development Social psychology: non-verbal communication Individual differences: the self Unit B543: Research in Psychology Written examination 20% Discovering and learning about the research process: 1 hour - Planning research 40 marks - Doing research - Analysing research - Planning an investigation Assessment Progression Past students have progressed onto a variety of degree courses including Psychology, Criminology, Crime Scene Science, Counselling, Teaching, Law, Sports Science, Nursing and Philosophy.
