Graded examinations in Musical Theatre Course Content This is a one year course that involves preparation for singing exams in Musical Theatre. During the course you will take part in practical activities to develop your singing skills and your performer's repertoire. By the end of the course you will have completed a singing graded examination from grade 6-8 (depending on ability). You will complete exams in Musical Theatre (Exam Board - University of West London - LONDON COLLEGE OF MUSIC) These examinations will count towards your UCAS points for entrance to university or Drama/Theatre School. You will learn about: Vocal health and maintenance Warm ups and breathing exercises Composers and librettists Developing repertoire Singing styles and musical genres Approaching libretto Characterisation through song General musicianship Sight reading Narrative and dramatic context of a range of songs Performance skills Movement in Performance Assessment Your assessment will be through a practical exam. There is no written exam for either of the courses, although you will need to understand theory and be able to answer questions about this verbally during the exam. Progression This course will work extremely well paired with a music or performing arts qualifications and will help towards progressing to a higher education foundation degree at university or drama school. You may also choose to enter a specialist area of employment within the performing arts industry. It is possible to take a re-sits in GCSE or take up a programme of A levels alongside this course.
