A Level Physics Course Content Physics is the most basic of all the sciences. It seeks to understand the laws and properties of matter as well as the forces acting upon it. As learners progress through the course they will build on their knowledge of the laws of Physics, applying their understanding to solve problems on topics ranging from sub-atomic particles to the entire universe. For A level only, the Practical Endorsement will also support the development of practical skills. A Level Physics Linear Course Content is split into six teaching modules: Module 1 - Development of practical skills in physics Module 2 - Foundations of physics Module 3 - Forces and motion Module 4 - Electrons, waves and photons Module 5 - Newtonian world and astrophysics Module 6 - Particles and medical physics Assessment Modelling physics (01) 100 marks 2 hours 15 minutes written paper - 37% Exploring physics (02) 100 marks 2 hours 15 minutes written paper - 37% Unified physics (03) 70 marks 1 hour 30 minutes written paper - 26% Progression Nearly all students who complete the A level Physics course go on to enter higher education. Engineering is the largest destination followed by science degrees. Other students embark on a wide range of courses from accountancy to philosophy. Entry Requirements for Physics Linear Minimum expected requirements: 5 GCSEs grades A*-C, including a grade B in Maths and Physics / Science.
