Throughout the 2 year course you will study 8 units in total a mixture of mandatory and optional. Six of these units are mandatory: Human Lifespan Development* Working in Health and Social Care* Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care** Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care Promoting Public Health You will study two further optional unit from the following list: Work Experience in Health and Social Care (Minimum 100 Hours Work Experience required) Sociological Perspectives Psychological Perspectives Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs Physiological Disorders and their Care Nutritional Health What will the lessons be like? The BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Health and Social Care is equivalent in size to two A Levels. Lessons will be a mixture of teacher taught, independent study, group work, presentations and assignment projects. How is it assessed? Two units are assessed as written exams* and one is assessed as a task**, all of which are marked externally by the exam board. The remaining units will be assessed using assignments (coursework tasks) which are set and marked internally at school. How can I go on to study further and what sort of jobs can it lead to? The new BTEC Nationals in Health and Social Care contain an exciting range of units which are flexible for today's learners, whilst also ensuring BTEC learners develop the skills they need to 'hit the ground running' when they move on to the next stage of their lives, whether that's into Higher education or employment. The course is suitable for those wanting to go into a Health Care career such as nursing, midwifery or Social Work career if taken alongside other suitable BTEC's or A levels.
