Music Theatre: Performing Arts

The Performing Arts Industry is one of the largest industries in the world. It includes areas of work such as Theatre, Music studios, Concert Venues, Museums, Education, Media and Television. It provides a wealth of job opportunities within the UK and abroad. This route will allow you to access industrial qualifications and University. You will develop many work based and personal skills, expand your knowledge of the industry and look at different career routes. What will the lessons be like? BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (Equivalent to two A Levels) - Eight units in total: 6 mandatory and 2 optional, of which three are externally assessed. BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate (Equivalent to one A Level) - 4 units in total: 3 mandatory and 1 optional. Two units are externally assessed. Each course consists of core units: Diploma and Extended Certificate: Investigating Practitioners' Work Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance Group Performance Workshop Diploma additional mandatory units: Performing Arts in the Community Individual performance Commission Final Live Performance to an Audience Specialist units include: Classic Ballet Technique, Tap Dance Technique, Jazz Dance Technique, Street Dance Technique and Contemporary Dance Technique. These units will be varied and include a majority of practical work, some theory work, case studies, talks and tasks led by outside speakers and group planning exercises. Throughout the course there will be performing opportunities in various locations. You must be prepared to go out of school on visits. How can I go onto study further and what sort of jobs can it lead to? The BTEC Level 3 National courses are recognised by the Performing Arts Industry, Dance and Drama Colleges and Universities as meeting their entrance criteria.
