This course is bespoke to those that have sensory impairments and would like to learn the basics of computing. These informal learning opportunties will be delivered in a relaxed and friendly environment at the Forest Sensory Services in Cinderford by tutors empathetic to your needs. Familiarise yourself with the basic functions of a computer and learn how to use the specialist software (Guide or Supernova) and increase your confidence in our digital society. You will have the opportunity to learn how to use the shortcut keys and touch type and some learners could learn the complex operations within the software to type a variety of documents and be able to insert images.Your tutor will regularly review your activities and offer you support and guidance. You will be encouraged to identify small, realistic and achievable goals to work towards throughout the course and will keep an electronic learning log to monitor your progress and achievement within the group. Lessons will involve recap to consolidate learning.Learners are expected to attend regularly ie at least 80% of the course.This course is aimed at adults (age 19 or over as at 31st August 2014) who have a sensory impairment.Enrolment is by referral only through the Forest Sensory Services in Cinderford.
