Health and Social Care offers a broad introduction to key concepts, skills and ideas that will be useful if you are considering a career in Health and Social Care. The aims of this GCE are to encourage you to:- Develop and sustain an interest in health and social care provision- Acquire knowledge and understanding of issues affecting the health and social care sectors.- Develop skills that will enable you to make an effective contribution to the care sector including skills of communication, research, evaluation and problem solving in a work related context.- Apply knowledge, understanding and skills to health and social care practice and prepare for further study and training.The AS has been designed to provide a broad introduction to the needs of service users and the techniques and professional services aimed at meeting those needs. Three units are completed, two are assessed internally (coursework) and one is assessed by an exam at the end of the year:Promoting Quality Care (Exam)Communication in Care Settings (Portfolio)Promoting Good Health (Portfolio)The full A Level builds on what has been learned at AS but offers the opportunity to study specific aspects of behaviour in more depth.
