This is a practical and hands-on course with an emphasis on learning through doing. It will introduce you to the skills of counselling and relate these to the 3 main schools of counselling theory: humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behaviour. The course will enable you to develop your listening and communication skills and to develop more awareness of yourself and your interaction with others. A weekly learning review outside of college hours is required and an external assessment by question and answer following a video presentation is also required. The awarding body for this course is the CPCAB (The Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body).
