Public Services is an exciting and dynamic sector that encompasses a wide range of jobs and career choices. The HND gives you the skills needed for a managerial role in the Public Services, whether this be Uniformed or Non-Uniformed. This programme is aimed to develop the skills needed for Officer roles in the Armed Forces or Public Sector Management. You will be introduced to all aspects of work within the Public Services with close links to a variety of organisations and services giving you the chance to make an informed choice in yourcareer progression. Should you wish, you can top up the credits awarded on this programme to progress to full Honours Degrees at a University of your choice. UNITS STUDIED Year 1: * Small scale research projects in Public Services * Organisations and Behaviour * Fair Treatment in Public Service * Psychology of Human and Criminal behaviour * Substance Misuse, culture and Crime * Managing Stress in the Public Services * Training and Fitness for Sport & Exercise * Employability skills Year 2: * Managing Public Sector Finance * Government Decision-making and the Public Services * Research project * Personal and Professional Development * Work - based Experience * Crime reduction and community safety * Sociological aspects of the Public Services in contemporary society ASSESSMENT Assessment will be continuous throughout the course and will range from individual and group assignments, projects and practical observations. Your studies will take the form of: * Formal lectures * Seminars * One to one tutorials * Educational visits * Guest speakers
