The Foundation Learning programme is made up of 3 parts: 1. VOCATIONAL students build skills and increase their knowledge in a particular vocational area. The vocational units covered in this qualification are: Vehicle hand skills and manufacturing techniques Lubrication Systems Cooling Systems Fuel and Air Systems Electrical Systems Transmission Systems Spark Ignition Systems Steering and Suspension Systems Wheels and Tyres Brake systems 2. FUNCTIONAL SKILLS an integral part of the programme designed to enable students to apply their Maths and English skills to their chosen career path. Functional skills are a compulsory element, and nonachievement of the functional skills impacts on the achievement of the full programme. Therefore, the results of initial assessments in Maths and English may impact on the level of programme the student is offered. 3. PERSONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT as part of the foundation learning programme, students are required to complete units in personal and social development in addition to the vocational units.
