The new A Level specification in English Literature offers students the opportunity to develop in depth knowledge of a wide ranges of genres, eras and text types, whilst helping prepare their academic writing to degree level. Cuurently the genre study focuses on American Literature, John Steinbeck andF Scott Fitzgerald, and the pre 1900 modules are a comparative paper based on John Webster and Geoffrey Chaucer, with a separate paper on William Shakespeare. There are three exams in Year 13, one on each unit, and two pieces of coursework submitted based in modern texts. Current coursework texts look at writing from other cultutres and 21st century literature.
