What is it? Do you want to be the next Alan Sugar? This course will help you understand how an organisation is managed, overcomes potential problems and becomes successful in the market place. What will I study? During your 2 years studying business, you will be able to understand key business concepts and be able to link them to real life businesses. Over the two years you will study four themes, themes 1 and 2 in the first year and themes 3 and 4 in the second year. Theme 1 - Marketing and people - Students will look at how a business chooses the correct market to sell their product as well as the importance of marketing, motivation and leadership. Theme 2 - Managing business activities - Students will develop an understanding of raising and managing finances as well as the importance of managing resources effectively. Students will also gain an understanding of the economy and how it influences a business. Theme 3 - Business decisions and strategy - Students will develop an understanding of what influences a businesses strategy and decision making. Theme 4 - Global business - Students will investigate the factors that influence businesses going global and entering new countries. Assessment: The course is 100% exam based, with all the exams taken at the end of the second year of study. Paper 1 links together content from Themes 1 and 4. Paper 2 links together content from Theme 2 and 3 with Paper 3 bringing together content from all four themes. Where does it lead? The vast majority of our students advance onto university, where they study courses such as business studies, business management, economics, retailing and accounting.
