Study Skills for Maths - Entry 1 - 2

This course introduces study skills including classroom participation, organising a course folder and independent learning at the Open Learning Centre. Good attendance and punctuality are essential requirements for learning on this course. Learners will prepare to join a Maths accredited course by learning about maths operations, vocabulary and calculators at E1-E2 levels. Yes. Before you can enrol on this course the tutor will assess your maths levels and English communication skills Class work will sometimes be in pairs or small groups, and sometimes as a whole group. Your tutor will also work with you individually. You will be given homework on a regular basis that you will be expected to complete by next session You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Your tutor will give you verbal feedback as a group during the session, and written feedback on paper exercises you do. You will decide individual learning goals with your tutor and see your progress over the term by keeping a folder of work. You will be able to talk to your tutor in one to one meetings about your learning during tutorials. Your tutor will ask for your feedback as a group at different times during the session and in course reviews. You will be able to formally record your views on the course at the end by completing an evaluation form. You may also complete SFA and OFSTED surveys. It is very important for you to attend your classes regularly. If you are unable to attend a class, please notify your tutor. If you do not come to classes during the first week or fail to attend for two consecutive classes without informing your tutor, you may lose your place of study.
