Edexcel Music Technology consists of two externally-examined papers and two non-examined assessment components. The first externally assessed paper is worth 20% of the qualification and is called Recording. It involves using production tools and techniques to capture, edit, process and mix an audio recording of 2 - 2.5 minutes long. The second component, Technology-based composition, has the same weight as Recording. It requires the creating, editing, manipulating and structuring of sounds to produce a technology-based composition of 2.5 minutes long.
