The AQA French course has four different components, each assessed differently. There is the listening, reading & writing paper, another paper which requires a written response to a film or literary text & a translation, as well as a speaking unit. All subject specific instructions are in French, unless English is more appropriate to the nature of the question. Students study the themes: aspects of French-speaking society, i.e. current trends & issues, artistic culture & aspects of political life in the French-speaking world, the film 'La Haine' and the short novel 'L'Etranger' by Albert Camus.
