Manufacturing Engineering Pathway - BTEC Level 3

Engineers make dreams become reality using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Most things have been engineered including football stadiums, cars, appliances, exercise equipment, food manufacturing, and even electricity. All of these involve engineering in some form through design, build, maintenance, and planning to achieve a final product/ service. Our Engineering course allows students to prepare themselves for employment, an apprenticeship or university by gaining the relevant knowledge and skills needed to meet the needs of modern engineering industries. They will learn about mechanical and electronic disciplines as well as the core units within the course including: Welding Technology Electronic Printed Circuit Board Mechanical Measurement and Inspection Technology Computer Aided Manufacturing and Planning Manufacturing Secondary Machining Processes Fabrication Manufacturing Processes Plus an exciting range of other units that will also have a number of practical activities that link to real life industrial situations. There will be written, calculated work and practical investigation. Some assessments will take the form of a presentation. Some units will involve the fabrication of a product or the creation of a drawing. Other elements of Engineering that Wigan UTC offer are: Engineering (Generic) - BTEC Level 3 Electrical/ Electronic Engineering - BTEC Level 3 Manufacturing Engineering - BTEC Level 3 Network Rail Engineering BTEC Level 3 & Work Placement 2 days per week Engineering - BTEC Level 2 The optional pathways for BTEC Level Three in Engineering are: BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Engineering (equivalent to one A level) BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering (equivalent to two A levels) BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Engineering (equivalent to three A levels)
