Computer Science A Level Year 1

UPDATED 20161122 12:31:02

Computing Science is a new style two year A level. The course is designed to give you a good understanding of both the practical side of programming and using computer systems together with the theoretical ideas which computer systems depend upon. You will learn programming using the Java programming language. Java is widely used in computer systems from producing Apps for most mobile phones, creating business management systems to controlling devices such as blu ray players. You do not need any programming experience but you do need to be a confident computer user. You will learn how computer systems operate from the construction of the processor through to operating systems and networking. You will also investigate a variety of computer applications from Artificial intelligence to weather forecasting. You will learn about different ways of organising data and the methods that are used to manipulate that data. In the second year you will design, create and test a programed solution to a problem of your own choice.
