Students studying for the Level 3 BTEC Certificate and Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma, study a balanced programme of scientific disciplines drawn from the biological, physical and chemical sciences. In addition to this you will also have the chance to investigate how science is used in medicine and health care, forensics and in industry. The course content reflects how science is used in the science sector and adopts a 'hands-on' vocational approach to scientific training. Students are required to take part in all aspects of practical work, industrial visits and fieldwork (where required). The L3 BTEC Certificate will comprise three units studied in year one and will lead to a one AS equivalent. Three further units are studied in year two. This will lead to a BTEC subsidiary diploma after two years. The final Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma is an equivalent qualification to one A Level.
