This is a busy, exciting and performance centred course based in the purpose built Performing Arts Centre. It is structured around the creation of specific projects and the development of your vocational skills. In both years you will take part in and organise performances within the Performing Arts Centre, the community and local commercial theatres. This provides practical vocational experience and training as an actor/performer, and you will also explore the many vocational and educational opportunities for progression and work. Year one: As a core part of the course you will explore your physical and vocal skills, as well as consider the historical and cultural contexts of the Performing Arts. You will have opportunities to develop your creative performing abilities in a range of disciplines and styles, and this will culminate in a showing of your work in the Studio Theatre. You will participate in the devising of your own physical theatre performance, and will take part in a group production and performance of a contemporary text. Year two: You will explore Improvisation and Forum Theatre, and you will also develop your own unique monologue performances. These link into your progression and vocational opportunities, for which you will explore and study the performing arts business. You will create, produce and perform a classic pantomime which you will tour locally, and perform to the public. You will produce and perform your final major theatre performance project at an established venue. We currently present a Shakespeare season a the Brighton Dome
